Hannah Fountain 1808-1836 married Henry Maywood - Ilford

Hi all,

I have had a closer look on ancestry on HANNAH FOUNTAIN born in Jul 1808 and sadly died aged 28 years in 1836. Her son was born in 1828 and Hannah didn't marry Henry until 22nd March 1829... same day as their marriage WILLIAM was baptised.
We are wondering why her first born WILLIAM FOUNTAIN MAYWOOD had both surnames but Maywood surname ceased with time and Fountain has taken over one side of the family lines? So if anyone has further information on Hannah that would be great... possibility that WILLIAM wasn't HENRY MAYWOODS father? Or maybe HANNAH FOUNTAIN & HENRY MAYWOOD relationship was hush until they was married?

If he was born before his mother was married than he would have her surname.

Having a middle name that was the same surname as the mother was not uncommon to keep the name going.

Looks to me that Henry was Williams Father.
It wasn't hush if the Vicar named her as a concubine.

I noticed 1841 Jane Fountain is with Henry Maywood and his 2 Sons.

Cant see Burials for Thomas and Samuel.

Ah thanks for that information, yes if classed as concubine meaning then yes it wasn't really a concern for her. I know that Henry's brother Stephen Maywood senior was living at Breezers Hill, which at the time was known to be a running brothel.
I have just managed to find more information on Stephen Maywood seniors wife Sarah Ann Mcnamara and its given me alot of insight... hope I can find out more on Hannah and her background

I think that Hannah had a son named William fountain Maywood. I have been looking into the breezers connection. Where did Sarah mack come from.
