There is an Elizabeth MANN of Heworth Green, York buried in the St Thomas's Churchyard, Halifax on 22 March 1911. She was 89 years of age and born c 1822. (Source Genuki)
Other MANN's also buried in the churchyard are John Mann, his wife Mary Mann and son Robert Parker Mann.
In immigration to Canterbury, New Zealand on the ship "Lady Jocelyn" which departed London on 3 November 1874, arriving Lyttelton, New Zealand on 21 January 1875 - Colonial Nominated Immigrants by Anthony Mann, Waimate, NZ are the following:
Elizabeth Mann 46yrs Cook, Yorks
Emily Mann 17yrs Svt, Yorks
Elizabeth Mann 15yrs Svt, Yorks
Robert [Parker] Mann 7yrs, Yorks
I have yet to located the migration record for Anthony, but do know he was in Waimate, NZ in Nov 1873 (Source: Paperspast NZ Press newspaper 11 Nov 1873, Pg 2)
I would be interested to know if the Elizabeth Mann buried in the St Thomas's churchyard, Halifax is the same person at the Elizabeth Mann who came out to NZ in 1874/75?
Could she be a sister of John Mann, and aunt to Elizabeth, Emily and Robert?
Robert Parker Mann returned to England (details unknown) and I wonder if Elizabeth Mann returned with him? Robert Parker Mann died in 1881.
Any assistance appreciated.
I will attach as a separate posting research on the NZ Board, on Elizabeth Mann age 15yrs who arrived in NZ in 1875 to avoid duplication of research.
