Would appreciate hearing from anyone with info on Thomas Goodwin(b 1665) Llanduey, Merionthshire. Father: Thomas Goodwin, and Mother: Jane Walker.  Married Elizabeth Barnard (b 1672) abt 1680 Llanduey. Would like more info on his family prior to his emmigation to USA abt 1708 and Elizabeth Barnard's family. His eldest son, John (b 1681) stayed behind in Wales.  John married ?.  Thomas was a Pastor and schoolteacher within Church of England before being defrocked when he became a Quaker.  Curios

Someone posted this on the BBC Wales site.

My ancestors Thomas Goodwin and his son John were Quaker ministers. Thomas immigrated to Goshen Chester Co. Pennsylvania, but John was not able to immigrate because he was asked to be the leader of the Friends in the area of Llangurig to the lower slopes of Aran Benllyn, Aran Fawddwy, and Cader Idris. The origins of John's descendants have been a mystery to us until today. My uncle had hired a researcher in Wales who was unable to find anything from John's line. I found a website which said John's granddaughter Mary Goodwin was christened in Dolgelley parish church, 14 Nov. 1766. I am just starting, but I hope this is a key to John's extended family. I think John's son John Goodwin and his wife Mary may have lived around this area.

If anyone has any more info on the family (I am also a descendant of Thomas Goodwin) I would be very grateful.

FYI Goodwin Researchers: The above publication debunks the following information:  Thomas Goodwin (b 1665) Llanduey, Merionthshire. Father: Thomas Goodwin, and Mother: Jane Walker.  Married Elizabeth Barnard (b 1672) abt 1680 Llanduey.
