ANN Burton bapt 01 Jul 1787, St John the Baptist, Stanground, Huntingdonshire to JOHN/MARY

Siblings Bapts;
Peircy 02 Nov 1788
James 03 Oct 1790
Joseph 01 Jul 1792
Elizabeth 28 Dec 1794
Benjamin 12 Oct 1796

Now given that unusual name for the son bapt 1788 there is this Marriage 12 Oct 1776 Woodwalton, Hunts;
John BURTON, Bachelor to Mary PEACY, Spinster

If the right Marriage there may be other children born elsewhere in Hunts 1777-1787

All above on FreeREG

1851 Census James Burton c 1791 Standground, Huntingdonshire, is living in Whittlesey :)

Here is the 1818 baptism in the Bishops Transcripts. Note spelling at that time was Whittlesea, not Whittlesey!

Thanks so much for this.  I am really hoping that Thomas was the son of Robert and Ann - interesting that the Benjamin crops up again.

This is a long shot but if his Army Service Record has him in Ireland in 1841;

On Familysearch.Org;

Marriage 1841 Ross, County Cork, Ireland.
Thomas GUTTRIDGE to Mary LUNNIN

Trish - that is just so interesting!  I have just been through his service record again.  He had just over 18 years in service, of which 14 years and 3 months were in the Cape.  That basically means that there are about 4 years unaccounted for.  I am assuming that the missing years would be at the beginning of his service with the 45th Regiment. No mention is made of anywhere other than the Cape of Good Hope, even though he served in Natal from at least 1845.

I have been unable to trace a marriage here for him, but that could be because of parish records that are not on line - or, it could be that the 45th Regiment were in Ireland and he married there!!

Guess what I am going to be exploring this afternoon.   ;)    Thanks so much.
