There might be a Northumberland puzzle later. In the meantime, Hannah's birth reference would be particularly good, and any info. on Charles and Martha (nee Curlis), not to mention old Ma Curlis, but I shall start looking for them myself now.

I checked the 1861 and it's no wonder I couldn't find our Sippitts- they were listed as "Peppit", the Si does look a bit like Pe. It does say that Martha Curlis is married, not widowed, but I can't find any relevant references either. I'll hope a new post yields such spectacular results again!
Have you looked at John Mather- Quarryman in Northumberland?
