CLERKENWELL - FRIDAY.
Mr. John Morell, of Wells-row, the owner of the small
houses in Albert-square, back of Wells-row, appeared
again before the magistrate, at the instance of the Sanitary
Committee.
The Vestry Clerk stated that Mr. Morell had done
little or nothing to carry out the works to which he had
consented before the magistrate.
Peremtory orders were made that the works should be
carried out within seven days."

"RE ASHTON.
This was a sitting for the examination of John Ashton, of
St. Paul's-road, Highbury, builder and contractor, and of
Ring-cross, Holloway, coffee-house keeper.
The balance sheet commences in February, 1859, and
ends in June, 1860, showing the annexed summary:- Dr.
To Creditors 1,923l.; creditors holding security, 1,630l.:
profit on trading, 724l.; liabilities, 50l. Cr. By debtors,
good, 14l.; ditto, doubtful, 231l.; property, 95l.; property
held by creditors, 2,280l.; trade expenses, 779l.; house and
personal, 241l.; losses, 225l.; deficiency at commencement,
383l. The principal creditors include the Islington Build-
ing Society and the General Credit Company. Mr. John
Morell, hairdresser, of Wells-row, Highbury, holds a bill
of sale, dated June last, on bankrupt's effects at the coffee-
house. The official assignee reported that the bankrupt,
who had been in business for 16 years, had kept his books
very imperfectly, and as he had been obliged to assume a
large amount of his receipts and payments, the accounts
could only be considered as "imaginary."
The bankrupt passed his examination."
