Hi

Thanks.

5 year old Joseph was my grandfather. I knew him well. He fathered 17 children and although 2 died in childhood I knew all the others. I have known that first document for many years but have never seen the death record for my great grandfather before. Thank you for that.

Enjoy the day.

Regards

Richard

Thanks all again for your help. I have now narrowed it down so that IF my John Killoughery (whose birth or baptism I still cannot find!) had a brother named Michael then he can only be the one born 3 Sep 1859 with his baptism in Liscannor (Carrowduff). Another baby of same parents Andrew was baptised Oct 1868... cannot find his birth registration either!). Michael married Mary O'Loughlin in about 1889/90 (no record to be found)

Their parents are Michael Killoughery (c1825) and Honora Foley (c1829) who we would have expected to  have married pre 1859 (again not to be found, assume living, marrying and having earlier children elsewhere?). Honora died in 1891, aged 62 and in both census dad Michael is living with son Michael. Again cannot find his death after 1911 either, other than a possible workhouse death 1913.

Richard, sorry I didn't respond earlier... so you are the 2nd cousin to Rita, who is a friend of mine that I am helping with her tree. Rita is here in Lancs but is in touch with her Irish family. If you would like to contact her let me know.

So many elusive records.
Apologies of I haven't responded to anyone but I assure you I read and investigate them all :)

Thanks
Heather

I'm intrigued. Can you explain the connection?

Hi Richard

You said that John Killoughery and Mary Blake were your g-grandparents and young Joseph was your grandfather. Hope I got this right. (Did Joseph marry Catherine Power??)

One of the sisters of Joseph, Bridget Killoughery born 1887, married John Walsh in 1914. This couple are Rita's grandparents.

I mentioned your connection to Rita the other day and she said she can remember visiting a lady called Pat??? in England. Do you know who that might might be?

Heather

Wow!
I knew Bridget's son. He was Brother Johnny Walsh, a missionary priest who spent most of his life in India (Calcutta I think). I first came across him when he gave an oration at my grandmother's funeral (Catherine Power as you said). Moved by his speech I subsequently arranged to meet him in London and took his full life story down on paper.

Amazing to make that connection after all this time.
