I can see that Clara did not show up in the England census under her father at the correct time frame for her to journey to the USA. The ship log going to Scotland looks like maybe she went home with Edgar after Frederick dies, spent 4 years there,  then there is that other one for her and him to come back in 1893.

Wow, so much stuff to digest... Thanks your overwhelming me.  :) :) :) :)

Just wanted to note they arrived on 6 Sept 1983 and departed on 27 Sept the same year - not a four year visit

I see that now, it seems insanely arduous to make the journey with Edgar, Lands in Scotland Sept 6, then has to get to where ever shes going, then get to Liverpool to depart back to NY on Sept 27.  A trip would take about 9 or 10 days on the Ethiopia (ship info: http://www.norwayheritage.com/p_ship.asp?sh=ethio)

UK and Ireland, Outward Passenger Lists
Clara Greenwood - 1865 - aged 28 years - Edgar - child aged 4 years.
Departure Date:   27 Sep 1893 Liverpool, England - Destination Port New York.
Ship Name Majestic.

Sandra
The Majestic made the crossing much faster than the Ethiopia. It held the fasted crossing time for 2 weeks (it was a big time competition and honor apparently... It made the crossing (best time 6 days) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RMS_Majestic_(1889).  Just adding for note keeping.

Once she's landed it wouldn't be that long a trip by train to wherever. For example she'd get to London on an overnight train from Glasgow. so she'd have the best part of 3 weeks with whoever she's visiting
