In 1861, 1871, Helen Johnstone is described as a servant. George Watt, is head of household.

1871 there are two grandchildren, presumably to George Watt -
Elspeth Wood 6 yrs
Maryann Gillan 3 yrs

1881
Helen Watt, 35 yrs is daughter to Helen Johnstone, head of household plus the following grandchildren

Eliza Wood 16yrs (Elspeth from 1871?)
Margaret Gillan 13 yrs (Maryann from 1871?)
George Watt 3 yrs
Margaret Laird 2 yrs

Could Laird be Reid)

You need to see the census pages - I only have transcripts.

James
Watt. ( skipper ) was witness to John Reid

And George watt ( skipper) is witness to Margaret

Is
It looking like
Helen Johnstone married another man named watt? And had another few children ?

Thanks so
Much for all
The additions

Can anyone find a marriage of Helen Johnstone to mr watt or a death for
Her ?

In 1861 Helen Johnstone is transcibed as "fishermans housekeeper"

I would love to have seen that house as 24 people are listed as living there - all surname Watt except for Helen Johnstone 45 & Elspet Robertson 46 who is transcribed as
Quote
Wife Of H
but there is no male H listed??

Carole, I couldn’t begin to analyse 1861 from the transcript. ::)  ;)

I would opt, at the moment for Helen Johnston being a partner to George Watt and maybe Helen Reid/Watt being their child.
The other ‘grandchildren’ might shed some light on relationships.

Try the FreeCEN transcription , only 2 others with Helen , the previous household/next household buttons might help explain the situation  :-\

I'll move this to Banffshire.

On this one the buttons are previous dwelling / next dwelling , at the top.
