  Thanks, hanes. Did these ships have a "home" port, and could it have been Gravesend, as mentioned in one of the clips?

As mentioned in my first post both vessels were registered in London and this would have been their "Home Port". Gravesend would be considered to be part of the Port of London.
Lloyd's Register 1838/39 confirms ORWELL sailed to China.
Nothing on G P Collard in the Mercantile Navy List.
I would try a search of TNA series BT 115 - Registry of Shipping and Seamen: Alphabetical Register of Masters

I don't know what happened but a post of mine seems to have "disappeared"? I posted an item about Lloyds' Register and Collard/Orwell but no sign of it. Whichever, it related to Lloyds Register 1838/1839 showing a "J Collard" as Master of the Orwell.
