Mary Sadler 1769? Birth & Parents

Hello everyone,

After many years searching and with no clear result I’m hoping someone could help me to find the parents names for Mary Sadler and her birth.

She married William Serjeant (or Surgun) on 12 February 1792 St Matthews Ipswich. 

Her children were Mary Ann, William, Mahalath, Isaac, Lydia, Henry Vincent, Elizabeth, Ebenezer and James.

She was probably born around 1769 and died in 1839.  I don’t know whether she was born in Ipswich or out of the area or even the county.

If you haven't already eliminated Isaac Sadler's daughter Mary Ann, baptized at Chelmsford St Mary the Virgin on 23 July 1769 (FamilySearch), you may like to know that he was a carpenter in Moulsham (Essex Archives Online: D/P 94/1/9 image 32).

Siblings in the same register include Isaac in 1771 (image 37) and Daniel in 1773 (image 42).

According to her burial entry she was bc.1764 - i.e. 75 and buried 8/4/1839 St. Matthew, Ipswich.

Thank you both for taking the time to look for me and reply. 

I had wondered whether the baptism for Mary Ann with father Isaac in Chelmsford, Essex could be the Mary Ann I’m looking for.  So for you to find this too it does make me think that this could be her. 

I didn’t know he was a carpenter in Moulsham or that Mary Ann had siblings, so that’s great news, thank you.  Did you happen to come across a mother’s name for Mary Ann?

I'm sorry but I don't think Mary is the daughter of Isaac in Chelmsford.

Also, you've referred to her as Marianne - as have the many (clearly copied) trees on Ancestry but she was a plain Mary at marriage/on baptisms of her children/and when she died.   

She was born ca.1764 some 5 years before the Mary Ann, daughter of Isaac was born.

Her eldest daughter is Mary Ann so maybe her name too was just Mary (I’m not sure about the Marianne, it could be just the pronunciation).

Someone further down this tree were from Essex so I was thinking maybe it could be there.   

I wonder if there are any Mary Sadlers born around 1764?

There are several possibles c 1765 on FreeREG in Suffolk, Norfolk, Essex for your Mary Sadler.
It may be a task to sort them out though to see if they stayed in that Town and married there or possibly died young.

I know this is a long shot but have you seen the original parish register for the 1792 Marriage?
Why I ask is that in 1792 Mary would be age 27 if born c 1765.
She may have been a Widow.

I looked at Marriages Ipswich for Sadlers 1781-1802 hoping to find a sibling of Marys may have married there.

I found only one other that time frame;

1 April 1787, Thomas SADLER to Mary LING

From what I can see on F/S they only bapt 1 son there THOMAS 24 January 1789

EDIT ignore the widow possibility but as just found a Bapt where she is nee Sadler!

That is a possibility as she was 27 if born 1765 (just noticed it says nee Sadler too)

I’ve not seen the original record for the marriage, just what’s been transcribed.  12 February 1792. William Serjeant (Surgun) was born about 1766 (although I can’t find any birth for him either).  Unless they were both that little bit older when they married. 

It’s a difficult one is this, I’m having no luck at all with Mary or William
