I am presuming you haven't overlooked a 'look-up' at the National Archives in Wellington for the ship's manifest?

ADDED: Noting that sometimes this ship is called the John MacVicar

I’ve looked, which is how I found there is a diary by the Turnbulls, but I could easily have missed it.  I would have thought they would have it (since the Turnbulls were the parents of Alexander)

he is elderly, (b abt 1786) don't know what he was thinking to risk the voyage)

Just something to think about, as it happened in one of my trees, to bring an elderly member over with them they knocked a few years off in age.  Not saying that is what happened with your chap, but could there have possibly been an age requirement?

Cheers

It appears that the manifest snippet on the third party website may have come from the NZSG according the Petone Settlers database:

Regarding the NZ Archives, I understood that there were physical card holdings in Wellington for ships that you can access in person. One might presume these have all been digitised, but my experience with other types of records is that they are a work in progress.

Thank you both.

I hadn’t thought TWD seniors age might be artificially lowered for the trip.  It would make sense as his wife was a fair bit younger.

I will enquire at archives & NZSG.
