Newton House, Beaminster - where is or was it?
« on: Thursday 18 March 21 08:18 GMT (UK) »
I have a copy of the will of the wife of one of my great grand Uncles.

The will was written in 1975 and the testator makes a bequest to a relative - I shan't name any names as the person may still be alive - whose address in 1975 is shown as Newton House, Beaminster.

Googling hasn't so far found me any Newton House in Beaminster so I was wondering if anyone knew where this is or was?

Thanks for any local help with this.

(as an aside this is one of a number of wills of my wider family I've just purchased and it is fascinating seeing where all these people lived at the time of writing their wills or their deaths)

There's a Beaminster museum - perhaps they would be able to help.

It might be easier to look up the relative in 1970's electoral roll and/or phone books

Thanks - the Museum is a good idea I'll contact them.

I have the person on electoral registers but would like to know where the property is/was.

Thanks again

Thanks for the suggestions.

Someone at the Museum has solved the mystery. The house is no longer known by the same name and has been located.

Thanks again for the help.
