Downham Marriage Look Up for John Tomkins 1897

I am trying to find any information on John Tomkins.

All I have is his marriage

Elizabeth Lilly McCready and John Tomkins

Downham, Norfolk

On Ancestry some members have him as being killed in the Boer War in  1901, being in the 2nd Battalion of the East Kent regiment, but there is nothing to back this up.
So I thought that, with the marriage being the one solid fact, I would start with that.

I was wondering if anyone has access to the records for the Downham parish which give occupation , age and fathers name, please!

You really need a birth certificate or baptism for Helen to confirm her fathers occupation at the time, unless he was serving when he married.

I see that Helen Margaret was in a childrens home in later years, this web page indicates that it was a home for children who were orphans of Soldiers, Sailors and Marines
