Ware or Wareside
« on: Monday 22 March 21 14:14 GMT (UK) »
Would any one know if the parishes of Ware or Wareside have ever been transcribed?
I am looking for Bapt for 1760 - 1790
I know My John Whittenbury was the Miller in Edmonton, but another document came up suggesting from Wareside.
Many Thanks

Is this connected to the family in this thread?
https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=761843.0

Have you tracked down John's two brothers?

There is an 1763 baptism for a John in Watton at stone not too far from Ware

Berks / Oxon: Eltham, Annetts, Wiltshire (surname not county), Hawkins, Pembroke, Partridge
Dorset / Hants: Derham, Stride, Purkiss, Sibley
Yorkshire: Pottage, Carr, Blackburn, Depledge
Sussex: Goodyer, Christopher, Trevatt
Lanark: Scott (soldier went to Jersey CI)
Jersey: Fowler, Huelin, Scott

Hi Lizzie yes, since then I have connected the 3 as brothers are defiantly brothers. I forgot all about that post.
I have been stuck on my James for well over 30 years now. I ordered John's will 1813 years ago which they sent, it was only last week when I was looking at it again on ancestry that I accidentally clicked the next button instead of enlarging it and WOW :D not only did my James sign it it showed he lived in Deptford that I already knew :)

So having a fresh look at things now

Assume that you have checked Ware parish registers on FindMyPast
 ditto - familysearch
ditto - Herts On line (incl John W, bp 1769, son of Wm & Sarah)

I can't see a bp for a John W in Ware records.

I'm a little confused about the age of John W. What are the sources for his age being between 1760 & 1790? Seems a large time frame  ???

What source says he was born Herts?

Is he on any specific census? Details?

When did he marry?

We're all looking for answers, aren't we  ;D

Hi Lady Di
Thanks for taking the trouble & sorry for the confusion, I don't have FindMyPast only Ancestry at the moment, they have nothing on Ware.
I am looking for 3 brothers that I know are defiantly brothers from Johns will.
I have been looking for these for well over 30 years & I don't think anything will come up in basic searches.
If I start with the Eldest of the 3
John Born approx 1763, the earliest mention of him is; his son & Daughter Henry & Sara Bapt in Edmonton 1804. The next record is 1813 where he dies in Millwall Poplar. He was a Miller by trade. age 50

James Whittenbury born approx 1778, 1st mention is marriage 1812 Deptford Kent, 1841 census says not b in Kent. 1851 census says born in London. Died 1856.

William,  born approx 1793, 1st mention in (John Will) 1813 living Well St Well cross (I Presume Clacton) also 1813 he gets Married in Limehouse (Poplar) all the census for him say born Hertford. He had a lot of children but one John William (Although bapt in Whitechapel) gave all his parents names etc on his emigration to Australia said he was born in Wareside?
Now William is on a lot of peoples trees from Datchworth (I do not trust the trees, because they are mostly the same, but some have different parents' etc)
not only that but John & James are not there!
Sorry its a bit long-winded but as I said been stuck on my James well over 30 years now & it parts of this story is on here from ages ago, but every now & again I get this bit in me to find his parents.
So the main reason was looking at Ware is it is another place I have not searched & if it has never been online I could go & do it the old way, like I did when I was young  ;D
If you have read until here? Thank you for listening/reading my frustration :p
I love this site, so many people just want it done the right way :)
PS a lot of this is covered in older roots chat topics, it's just that every now & again a snippet (that's all I want :) ) that will give me another clue I can go and search.

John and William born 30 years apart?, are you sure you have the right William to be John's brother?

Hi Lizzie, When john died in 1813 the doctor in attendance said he was 50 years old. I did find his burial years ago when I was searching at the London record office, buried all saints poplar, I cant find the notes I made for his age on that now though :( (at the time I had not connected him to James, just liked the coincidence of it being the same church as James buried)
Where James & William who stated they were his brothers as executors on his Will, James Signed as living in Deptford & William signed living in Well Street. Williams eldest daughter Alice born Whitechapel St Mary, abode said Well Street) All Williams dates come from Census, BUT on his death in 1866 gives his death as 1789. Which does make more sense, but that is filled in by someone who knew him I presume.
:)
