Thomas Harris and family are recorded in the 1939 National register which was taken in September 1939. The entry records that the family were living at 77 Appleton Road, Stockton. The entry reads:

Harris, Thomas [written just above is John Thomas]; DOB 21 April 1888; Married; a Dock Labourer
Harris, Mary; DOB 18 December 1890; Married
Harris, Richard; DOB 12 March 1922; Single; a Brickyard Labourer
Harris, Clifford; DOB 18 October 1919; Single; a Bricklayer's Labourer
REDACTED
Harris, Lawrence; DOB 8 August 1926; Single; at School
REDACTED
REDACTED
Harris, Margaret [showing married name of Lenham]; DOB 16 April 1935; Single; Under School Age

Taking into account that Thmas Harris was actually John Thomas Harris with a date of birth of 21 April 1888, a search of the civil birth registrations finds that the birth for John Thomas Harris was registered in the June quarter of 1888, Stockton District, Volume 10a, Page 78.

A search of the 1891 Census has failed to find John Thomas Harris.

A search of the 1901 Census finds a John Thomas Harris age 12 years, born Stockton. He was at the Chadwick Memorial Industrial School, Moor Edge, Newcastle and he was placed in the Joiner's Department.

Jumpimg forward to answer your original question in your original post, I have found a death for a John Thomas Harris who was born in 1888.

In the Durham Burials we find the following:

Name - John Thomas Harris
Birth Year - 1888
Death Year - 1967
Buried - 26 October 1967
Place of burial - Durham Road Cemetery, Stockton on Tees

I believe this to be your man.
