The possible 'n' at the end is like the other 'n's.

As Arthurk says it could mean Kirkton of Rathven -- if Kirkton means 'parish' perhaps.

I've just googled it and a Scottish definition from Collins Dictionary is;

 Scottish
a village or town with a parish church
Collins English Dictionary. Copyright © HarperCollins Publishers

So basically I think the certificate is roughly saying George Black was from the parish of Rathven!
Places of interest;
Lancashire, West Yorkshire, Southern Ireland, Scotland.

It'll do for me!
I've also just found that Margaret's daughter, Isobel, married William Black on 21st June, 1823, so George Black certainly will be a grandson.

You're very welcome, Pennines!
And...
I've discovered that when Margaret's daughter, Isobel (who married William Black) died, she was then known as Isabella and her son George was present at her death in Rathven.
He seems to be a bit of a jinx!!  ;D ;D ;D

All done and dusted then.  ;)
