McKennedy John
« on: Tuesday 30 March 21 15:08 BST (UK) »
In the English 1851 Census it shows John McKennedy head - 35 - gardener - born Cork and has wife Bridget - 34 born Kilkenny. They have 3 children all born Cheltenham, Glocs.
Mckennedy is an unusual Irish name, more Gaelic. Is there anyway I can trace John McKennedy line, or find a marriage certificate for John & Bridget. Any guidance would be much appfreciated.

Have you found the other children’s birth registrations?
I can’t see them to check mother’s name. It could be Lines/Lyons/Lynes etc

I have followed the family line through to living relatives. I was just hoping for a miracle, to find the McKennedy line in County Cork. Thank you for your help. as always.

Yes, I can see that. It is the birth records I was looking for. If all the children were born in Cheltenham, I can’t see them in birth records apart from Michael.
I was hoping to get confirmation of Bridget’s surname to look for a marriage. I can’t see one yet.

As Heywood says if you find the birth records of the children you could get their mothers surname which.will help you find the marriage of John  + Bridgett giving their parents names

John ,+ his family may go by plain KENNEDY in 1841
sometimes the Mc# was dropped .

If they followed traditional naming patterns and their are no dead children between those you could predict that John's father was also called John and his mother Betsy
First daughter Margaret named after mother's mother ?

Ellen Hayes born abt 1806, Ireland is a Charwoman living in Devonshire Street, Cheltenham with a household Curley in 1841.

In 1851, if she is the same person in living with your McKennedys.
Her birthplace has been transcribed as ‘Karlang’ on Ancestry and it could be read, I think, as ‘Karlany’ which might be Killarney  :-\
