Above, I should specify that there are no other surviving births for the couple other than Tom born in 1843.  (The records begin in 1843)  On the famine relief list, they say 4 males in household.

I've heard of cases where the father and son use different forms of the same name to help tell them apart.  So maybe, that could account for a son named Tom later mostly being called Timothy, after his father Tim died.

I wonder what the odds would be that Bridget Torpey or (Bridget Mcnamara?) appears on a census search form for an old age pension.  Haven't found one yet, but I'm not sure that I understand how to search.  And then the name might have different variants.

I wish I could see an index of names, in case Torpey appears differently.
