Help dating photo from Durham/Northumberland

Hi, I could do with some help dating this photograph of an unknown ancestor, hopefully to indicate who it is likely to be. No clue as to the photographer from the card as plain back. Suggestions as to the age of the person in the photo would also be welcomed! My ancestors are from the Durham/Northumberland area if that helps.

Hello & welcome.
I have seen this style of waistcoat before. It's a late 1880's trend.
The cardstock design is also late 1880's.
So late 1880's but may be as late as early 90's.
He looks in his 40's.
Someone born 1840-45 I would suggest.

That's brilliant thanks very much for your help. I was thinking around the same age - mid 40's. My GGG Grandad would be the only one that fits in around that time period, he was born in 1846. I have a photo of him when he was older but I can't tell if there's any similarities between the two photos? He had a younger brother born 1849 but that might be a touch late.

Both men have similar eyes, beards and hair-dos, but face is longer in younger man and ear shape appears different.

Thanks yeah it doesn't appear conclusive does it  frustrating...it's my only unknown.
