Hopper Blower - Farm Labourer?
« on: Tuesday 27 April 21 05:58 BST (UK) »
Looking at a WW1 soldier's record, his occupation is "Hopper Blower". He lives near Hobart, Tasmania, Australia in a rural area. I suspect this occupation is connected with farm labouring, but wonder if anyone can enlighten me, please.
On his return from WW1, Aus Electoral rolls list this man's occupation as a Labourer.
With thanks,Valsgirl

After further research, I'm thinking a Hopper Blower is someone who uses a blower / hose type equipment, to either blow grain into a storage hopper / farm silo, or maybe clean out the silo / hopper.
Thank you M for your interest in my query. I didn't include the soldier's name as it was only his occupation that puzzled me.
