Hugh Lucy - Milton Bryan
« on: Tuesday 11 May 21 06:53 BST (UK) »
Looking for information about Hugh Lucy, born 1588 in Milton Bryan Bedfordshire or any associated family. I believe he was the son of William Lucy. Hoping to find information about any children he may have had. May or May not have moved to Wollaston, Northamptonshire. Think he owned land and Hugh was a Gentleman Yeoman.

Yes, as per Milton Bryan parish register; Hugh Lucy baptised there 11 Aug 1588, son of William Lucy

Whilst there are quite a few Lucy or variation names in the PR I could not find a marriage for him there or elsewhere in Bedfordshire (as per BFHS Surnames Index) although there is one on 25 Jan 1615-16 at nearby Potsgrove of Hugo Lucie to Joan Honner....

.... plus there is a baptism of a Hugo son of Hugo Lucie at Potsgrove on 18 July 1619

** Beds Archives have the Will for William Lucy, yeoman of Milton Bryan ref ABP/W 1598/95, buried 29 May 1598, who may be Hugh's father

++ There are a number of public trees on Ancestry that have Hugh Lucy 1588 (son of William)  & son Hugh both being buried at Wollaston in November 1669

I put a request in on the Northamptonshire chat too and this came up:

There is a marriage of a Hughe Lucie (as spelt) marriage in Church Brampton 21st December 1604 to a Joan Jarmen

Two Hugh's! Two Joan's!

The Potsgrove Hugh / Hugo fit best in terms of location and dates (a later Hugh Lucy in the line moves to Olney, and other Beds links).

I'm not on Ancestry, do the trees go back further, and so they do match Wollaston Lucy's to the Milton Bryan ones?

There are 20+ public trees on Ancestry that have Hugh Lucy born 1588 Milton Bryan (some have him being son of William & Elizabeth Lucy) and being buried at Wollaston 1669. None have a spouse for him. Some have his son Hugh also buried Wollaston 1669 but he is born 1630-1635 Wollaston with a hint that his mother was Mary.

Who knows ? .... the only things confirmed by public record is his baptism at Milton Bryan & the two burials at Wollaston

As is said above this has been duplicated on the Northants board.
Please check that you are not copying the same info that has been found there.
