Just for interest? In 1891 John William is in the household of a Chritchley Almond. John William appears in 1939 as John William Almond (Stansfield)

The common denominator here with regard to Louisa Stansfield and my great Grandfather Critchley Almond is that neither of them can be found on the 1881 census whilst my Grandfather James Moran age 3 was living with his Mother Ann Moran on Friday St. in Blackburn on the 1881 census.

There's an earlier thread about Critchley Almond and Ann Moran.

Yes, it was probably me that posted because Critchley Almond is known to be the father of my Grandfather James Moran who was born in Blackburn in 1878 by Ann Moran but at some time from the early1880's onwards he is known to have been associated with a Louisa Stansfield nee Smith born in Openshaw in 1850 but as I stated in my last post neither of them appear on the 1881 census for some reason but on the 1891 census he is living in Heywood Lancashire with Louisa Stansfield, my Grandfather and other children all with the Stansfield surname.
Just hoping to find both of them on the 1881 census which may answer a few questions l have.

Critchley Almond is a memorable name.

Still no sign in 1881  :-\

Lancs opc shows these births (I know they have been mentioned elsewhere but not sure re Charles. Is he the same family, I wonder?)

Charles, 22nd March 1875 (born April 1874) All Saints, Blackburn
Louisa Stansfield, Weaver, Bury Road, Rochdale.

Simeon 2nd July 1876 All Saints Blackburn - Joseph and Louisa

Emma 15th January 1879 All Saints Blackburn - Joseph and Louisa

David 2nd March 1881 St Chad’s Rochdale - Joseph and Louisa

John William 25th January 1888 St Peter’s Blackburn - Louisa

21st March 1889 St Mary of the Assumption, Burnley
Hanna born 17th July 1886 - Louisa
Richard born 24th December 1883 - Louisa

Was Critchley Almond a Catholic? I wonder why these last two baptisms were Catholic?

There is a newspaper snippet 30th May 1884, Todmorden Advertiser
It mentions ‘violently and unlawfully assaulted his wife, Louisa Stansfield’  but does not mention the name in the snippet. It may not be this Louisa.
