Good idea, heywood  ;D

The library re-opened on the 10th May, and there are telephone and e-mail contact details. A local studies department on the first floor (click Services).

Thanks KG.
I notice I didn’t give the link  ;)

The snippet I can see reads:
“St John’s, County Roscommon; Kiltoon, Roscommon, Tubberclare, county Westmeath; Drum, Ballinasloe, Tang, Maconnell, Cauldry and Drumscally.”

I wondered if the punctuation gives meaning and also in a couple of the snippets, the words are distorted due to ocr.

E.g, Ballinasloe should probably be Ballinealoe.

Thanks Heywood for the suggestion. I think I may have made a breakthrough.
On the road between Baylin and Aghanasmore, just a few miles from Athlone, is Caulry Gaelic Football Club. It is in the townlands of Ardyduffy and Clonrelick, before the road reaches the L1437. The gaelic name is Calraigh. I will have to ask at Athlone library for more info.
Thoughts anyone?

I looked on Griffiths maps but can’t see anything  :-\
I then looked on a Facebook site - I think you had the same idea  ;)
Let’s hope something turns up.

Great breakthrough, hoople  :D

Just throwing a small spanner in the works......appears Caulry GAA is in the townland of Carn Park (north-east corner), or am I mistaken  ;).

I am unsure re the name of the GAA. I don’t think it is named for a place.

I am excited  ;)

‘ In the R. C. divisions the parish, also called Caulry, is in the diocese of Ardagh, and is co-extensive with that of the Established Church; the chapel is a large building at Mount-Temple, attached to which is a school under the National Board.’

Heywood, yes, I've had a Facebook reply from several people to tell me that Caulry is/was in the parish of Ballyloughloe, Mount Temple. Great work. Can't thank you enough.
Now to try and find the baptism of Edward Dourley/Doorley.
