For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during an enemy retreat. He led his platoon with great skill, particularly when, after taking out a patrol into the enemy's line, he went back to bring up supporting sections, thus enabling the whole company to push forward and occupy the enemy's main line. Later, when units on his flanks were both out of touch, he took out patrols, and, under heavy machine-gun fire, sent back valuable information to his company commander, who was then able to fill the breach. He rendered valuable service.

ShaunJ -- I was just about to post the same question to Luke. Over the last couple of days, between us, we appear to have solved his question but as yet he hasn't made any comments on our findings.

Very unusual name - GLEAVE
I know of a family by that name who lived in Saltcoats, North Ayrshire in the 1940s and 1950s before moving to Edinburgh area.
Children still alive so PM me for details.
