John Butters m. Ann Whistler
« on: Thursday 20 May 21 20:03 BST (UK) »
I am putting this on the Norfolk site as these two people were married in Weeting 14/2/1776, and I have a copy of their marriage, which states at the time of the marriage they were both from Weeting. However I would like to find out where John Butters was actually born, so I can go back in time. Any suggestions of how I might achieve this please? I have found several children of the marriage. Regards.

This looks a likely marriage for Thomas and Mary. They had three other children there.

Mary WATLIN to Thomas BUTTERS   Marriage   24 Jun 1746   Norfolk   Tittleshall : St Mary :

This may be a possible baptism for Mary, a child of the same name & parents was born earlier.
Mary WATLIN   Baptism   04 Feb 1723   Norfolk   Tittleshall : St Mary :

By coincidence there are two Thomas burials in Weeting but no ages and this Mary below.

Mary BUTTER   Burial age 76 (1721)   18 Feb 1797   Norfolk   Weeting : All Saints and St Mary

All a bit of a longshot but it might be worth checking out?

Thanks for your help. It is quite a tricky one to sort out as to where John Butters was born. However I do know that he died in 1830 at Fordham, Cambridge at the age of 86 years, so possibly born in 1744 somewhere. I have his children as John 1778, Hannah, Thomas 1783, Ann 1787 and Mary 1789.
Regards.

There seems to be quite a lot of possible/maybe's, but I don't know how I am going to know which one it might be.
