Brookland near Cranleigh, Surrey
« on: Friday 21 May 21 02:39 BST (UK) »
I have a couple who have their children christened in Cranleigh, but the record always says "of Brookland". This is during the 1770s.

Was there an estate or property near Cranleigh with that name? Is there a locality that has the unofficial name of Brookland?

I know Great Bookham is vaguely nearby, but it distinctly says "Brookland".

Any ideas?

Try googling  Brooklands Farm - Knight Frank and you should find an estate agents brochure on the property

Thanks for your help :)

I tried googling, and all I was getting was the racing track at Weybridge.

I even looked up British History Online, and looked at their page on Cranleigh, but there was no mention of any place that looked even vaguely similar.

All sorted now :)
Thanks again.
