For years on and off I have been trying to find out the mystery of my Dads mum.
In 2 days you have resolved this problem. Using the link you gave me to 'Ancestry'
I was able go all the way back to Thomas Reid in 1676.
I would still like to know where Braeholme row would have been located on an old map.
I have access to old maps but don't know in which area to look.
Monica & Rosie you are amazing.
Thank you so very much.

Monica you have been busy had 2 of my Great Granddaughters for an overnight stay first since last year so great excitement ..So just came on now and seen all your posts as I said I still think the house was situated in Rhu Village. Not had a chance to look out the book but will certainly do it  today

Been in touch with one of the great granddaughters of the owners and she is going to check with her Mum to find out exactly where the house is definitely Rhu Village

Do not trust anything you find online unless it's an image of an orginal document, and especially don't trust trees submitted to Ancestry or other commercial web sites. Use them as useful pointers, but make sure you verify every detail by checking the original source.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

I Found Braeholme. William & Agnes Spy were the proprietors. They lived at Clarence cottage. They owned a few properties in the area of Clarence cottage. Looking in that area I Found it close by. The current house on this property is 11 Cumberland road. Could this house once have been called Braeholme?

I think that is  the property. Well done!

From the 1920 Valuation Rolls that Rosie mentioned earlier, the listing shows the following:

Braeholme
Daisybank
Rosevale Cottage
Anchorage
Victoria Cottage

I can see from your map that there is a property called Daisybank next to Braeholme. Also, nearby on that map on Hall Road, are Anchorage and Victoria Cottage.

Maybe Rosedale on the map is Rosevale on the VRs?

The 1921 census release is just round the corner...well next year at least! Not too long. Father Andrew died in November 1921 so you should find him and Rebecca (and Mary?) at the property. Rebecca died there in the 1930s from that family tree link I sent you?

From SP:

REBECCA GORDON/ REID
Age 81
1933
503/ 130
Row or Rhu

They only had 3 children I think from what I saw. Wonder who reported Rebecca's death.

Hi Dee Why. Yes you are in the right area the house Braeholme is on the corner of Upper Hall Road and Cumberland Road ..It was built as 2 separate houses and now referred to as Upper and Lower Conversions ..I have pictures of the house if you send me a PM with your e-mail  address I will forward them on to you ..I know the great granddaughter and she thinks her Mum has a old picture of the house somewhere
