Anyone with 11 Squadron RAF Ancestors: September 1918 to July 1919?
« on: Saturday 12 June 21 23:12 BST (UK) »
One of my relatives, James Gamble, was a Sergeant Pilot serving on 11 Squadron in the period September 1918 to July 1919.

He kept a number of photographs showing Squadron personnel, including one showing the Senior NCOs probably just before the Squadron returned to the UK from Germany in July 1919.  I've been able to identify about 40% of the personnel in the photo but I'd dearly love to put names to the others.

I've pored over the Squadron's records at the UK National Archives and created a list of likely names.  I also have the list of flights undertaken by the Squadron, as well as leave records, during this period in case anyone out there on RootsChat is interested.

Here's the list of names in case in hopes RootsChat members can help me put faces to the names (the records comprise Name / Service Number / Rank / Trade  / Date of Birth (where known):

I'll gladly share any of my research and photographs with family members of any of the above individuals.  Also, I recognize this is the longest of long shots...but I had to try.

Thanks in advance for any help in tracking down images of these men.

Kind regards,

In case it's of interest, here's the group photo with the identified names and my remaining gaps.  Any names in red text are tentative "best guesses" at this time.

I have additional photos showing 8, 9, 10, 13, 19 and 21 but I just don't have names for them.

From the photograph, #8, 20 and 21 are the unnamed pilots which presumably correspond to my 3 missing pilots: William Walter Franklin, William Henry George Spencer, and Andrew Templeton.  Unfortunately, I haven't found any distinguishing features that would allow me to associate any of these names with the faces.
