Missing marriage? Llanbeblig - Winifred JONES and Richard JONES
« on: Tuesday 15 June 21 01:02 BST (UK) »
Please can anyone help, I can't find the marriage of

Winifred JONES of Tyn Rallt? Llanbeblig
and
Richard JONES of Rhosdican? Llanbeblig

According to the 1911 census, they married around 1899.

Winifred Jones was born 1865 to John Jones and Martha nee Williams.
Richard Jones was born abt 1869 to William Jones and Gwen ??

On the 1901 census they were both living with Winifred's widowed mother. It says that Winifred and Richard are both 'married', and it describes Richard as son-in-law.

They had children Owen Rees Jones 1902 and Martha Winifred Jones 1907.

I don't know when either of them died. They were both on the 1911 census.

The home is sometimes described as Tyn'r allt or Ty'n-yr-allt and on maps today as Ty'rallt

If you enter the post code LL54 5RL into bing.com/maps and change the map to Ordnance survey, you can see it next door to Tyddyn Alice, as on the 1901 census.

Also on old maps - https://maps.nls.uk/view/101604514

And - https://www.old-maps.co.uk/#/Map/247839/361035/12/100226 Some find it difficult to use but you can view it through the ages.

On Google Maps, you can see it on Street View and

Richard's mothers maiden name could be Thomas. (1868 the same as twin brother Owen)
From the names of children beginning with Gwen 1853 from 1861, 1871 and 1881 census all children have mothers maiden name Thomas.
Ref GRO Index

I cannot find a marriage between a William Jones and a Gwen Thomas circa1851/52 perhaps she was a widow, she would have been about 23 when she had Gwen baptized 19 October 1853 at Llanbiblig, they lived on Chapel Street.

I'm waiting on a birth certificate to confirm if the mother's maiden name is Williams.
