Thank you very much for all of those, Kiltaglassan.

I'll just post a brief update of where I'm at with this SPRIGG family.

The family of William SPRIGGE (1633 - c.1710) of Clonavoe, Ireland, traces back to his father, William SPRIGGE (c.1581 - 1633) of Banbury, in Oxfordshire, England, and then to his father William SPRIGGE (c.1524 - 1603) of Lubenham, Leicestershire. I have now confirmed that William SPRIGGE of Clonavoe is not my ancestor, but have not ruled out a possible connection with his English ancestors.

I have now directed my attention to Nathan (or Nathaniel) SPRIGG (c.1678 - c.1730) who married Margaret BURGH and then Mary HUNT. Nathan SPRIGG was the rector of Newcastle, County Cork, and before that was the vicar of  North Molton, in Devon, England. Nathan SPRIGG and Margaret BURGH possibly had children; Rev. William SPRIGG (c.1700 - 1791) of County Limerick, Catherine BOWEN nee SPRIGG (c.1707 - 1765) of Cork, and John SPRIGG (c.1710 - 1774) of Waterford.

Nathan SPRIGG attended Oxford University, and his father was John (or Jonathan) SPRIGG of Exeter, Devon. Nathan SPRIGG appears to have had a brother Anthony SPRIGG who was the Mayor of South Molton, Devon, in 1737, and Anthony had some children there, one of which was named Nathan SPRIGG and another named Jonathan SPRIGG.

William SPRIGGE of Lubenham (above) had a son named Anthony SPRIGGE (c.1588), and William SPRIGGE of Banbury (above) had a son named Jonathan SPRIGGE (c.1629), both of which give a hint of a possible connection between the two families. A Jonathan SPRIGG was buried in Banbury in 1630, most probably the infant son mentioned.

Cheers,
Marc
