That's a good thought. I have no idea what he did or where they lived at the time of his death, except that he had a wife, Mary and about 5 children (1 was only 2 days old).
His death was registered in Raymond Terrace 22 June 1847.
I looked in Trove and nothing came up.
I researched his regiment and found out that some of the men were responsible for an awful massacre at Waterloo Creek, but none were ever charged. As a result , settlers thought it was ok to do this and there was another massacre near Moree, NSW.
Knowing where he came from in Cheshire, knowing he was originally a tailor and a tailor's son, I don't think he would have coped with this dreadful act, even if he wasn't involved directly. So, poor health caused by stress whether it be from drinking or no, seems to fit now.
