Well then that is food for thought as another ‘tale’ passed down was that Daniel as well as hawking his wares also engaged in a bit of bare knuckle fighting to earn extra cash!… Thanks for this!

Re bare knuckle fighting - there is a report of a David Daubney of Oldham being knocked out in a boxing match in 1912.  Is he one of yours?

I keep thinking of that long walk.  Can't imagine a mile going by without some choice words and/or a flying fist  ???

Most definitely as Daubney was and is quite a unique name and the brothers left Lincoln initially to Oldham and the Daniel moved to Bolton and his brother stayed in Oldham. Have you a copy of the report?  Many thanks
