I  don't  know  either but  for  some  reason it came  to me and  wondered if  you could cover a whole  stick of rhubarb  in pasty ( like  a  sausage roll), thought  it  would  be fun to have  a go

LM

Rhubarb Pie, when growing up in our house, the rhubarb was always washed, chopped, water added and sugar over the chopped rhubarb, in a deep enamel pie tin, with a thick ceramic / glass centre support to support the pastry covering.

Or apple / rhubarb stewed separately first, either for crumble on the top, or 'cake on the top'.

All a dream now!

No Christmas pud, Roobarb, which in view of the weather being so warm was just as well.   Don't think any of the adults could have faced it, plus the youngsters won't eat it.   We had gateau, pavlova and cheesecakes.

Yes, it is indeed a wagon wheel you see in the photo.   I should also mention that the chocolate has to be kept in the fridge before the game so it's rock hard!   Much harder to do than with a Mars bar.

IT WORKED!!

Well an update on my rhubarb stick, it does work, did it yesterday just for fun, I partly cooked the rhubarb in a casserole dish, about 8 inch sticks, you have to be careful not to overcook it, my neighbour thought it was delicious, I will do it again,  so ThrelfallYorky it was not such a mad idea after all

Supposed to  be  cutting   down, lost 6lb last  week  as wasn't well, don't  want  to put it back on

Talking of food— what exactly is a deep fried  Mars  bar?
In batter ,in with the fish and chips?

My Mum used to peel core and slice apples, thread them on a nice clean stick kept for the purpose and hang the sticks across the fireside oven where they slowly dried - very nice , imagine apple flavoured Chamois leather.

Pink forced rhubarb and naturally grown, are like two different things  .
I am a coward when it comes to rhubarb pies, top pastry only!
Don’t like soggy bottoms!

Glad the festivities went so  well.
I love games ,like Just a Minute and the one  where you can’t say yes or no  .
Charades, etc.

Lovely next door neighbour had a fall today, I heard a bang ,no answer in the phone  or doorbell , so called her daughter .
All sorted, but this evening it appeared she had gone to bed leaving the curtains open, then I saw her apparently slumped over the kitchen table .Called daughter again as it said neighbour’s phone was engaged.
Daughter came down and it was not back in place and neighbour could not hear  the  sound it makes when off the stand.
Neighbour was asleep over a jigsaw at the kitchen table !
Anyway daughter decided to stay the night, which was a worry off my mind.
Well, time for bed with a hard crossword.
Cheerio, sleep well.
Viktoria.

Got  a  feeling that  you usually get  soggy  bottoms  if the  fruit  put  into  a pie is to warm but  not  sure, will test  it  next  time  I  make  a pie
