I was fast asleep well before 10pm and when I woke up at 6am this morning I knew we’d lost as I was sure if we’d won the cheering from my neighbours would have woken me or fireworks.

I loved the photos of Prince George I saw today of his excitement when England scored.

I’ll join the “not into sports group” please. I do like Ski Sunday but that’s about it.

I played cricket and football until I suffered a bad knee injury when I was about 18. As a youngster we used to go with Dad and Mum to watch County Cricket matches which I enjoyed and on alternate weekends to Bristol to the City and to the Rovers when they were in the old second division with Dad.
I loved listening to Test Match Special on the steam radio especially when John Arlott was the commentator, and that classic comment by Brian Johnston I think when England were playing WIndies "And the bowlers Holding, the batsmans Willey".
But I do not like watching Match of the Day these days as there is too much yak and analytical pontification from the experts.
Sad old man really.

I will have to get mine out and ready.
Do you know a dweil is in Flemish a very large floor cloth, wrung out in hot soapy water ,draped over a trekker ( Big long handled squeegee) and used
to clean the acres of tiled flooring in Belgian homes .
It is my last one ,only had it since 1976 when we came back from Belgium.
Been saving it for the championships.

Oooh dear, I've always spelled it "Dwiall Flonking". Does that disqualify me from taking part?
