Stonesfield Census'
« on: Saturday 10 July 21 17:30 BST (UK) »
Afternoon one and all,

A plea for help.

Looking at the parish of Stonesfield, Oxfordshire I am after the addresses that the wife's ancestors may have lived.

1831: No address listed (Can't remember where on earth I located this info)
1841: No address listed.
1851: No address listed.
1861: Census destroyed ?
1871: No address listed.
1881: Possibly listed as Church Street but I cannot locate the entry on Ancestry. (RG11/1511.      Folio 93     Page 7.     Schedule 38.)

Where can I locate the addresses of the families there ?

Thanks in advance

EDIT: Sorry it is for the family name is Oliver (Robert, Susanna, Mark, James, Jane)

Hello Lensmeister,

There were no house numbers or street names in Stonefield until 1881 – it’s such a small place!  The census for that year shows High Street, Church Street, Riding Lane and Boot Street only.  Susan Oliver, a widowed gloveress aged 73 was lodging in Church Street at household schedule 38 which fell between the Rectory (schedule 31) and the Black Horse Inn (schedule 50)

In 1871 the Rector was at household schedule 122; Robert and Susan Oliver at 16 and a publican at household schedule 1.  No other identification given.

Thanks,

I was wondering were there any additional sheets that are missing that listed what streets were in the schedules.

Looks like I may never know

Thanks again

Br1gau is correct - if you have a look at https://www.archiuk.com/ and search for Stonesfield you can pick Victorian maps of the area covering 1806-1840 which shows very little of any village, but the 1888-1913 map is more aligned. Use the opacity slider to compare it to a current OS map

Wilts, S.Wales - Comley

Page 1 of every Folio usually has the Enumerator's route.
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)
