Definitely a possibility.

I have been searching for them on the 1861 but with no luck so far. Presumably deceased by then.

Something else to check but tomorrow now.

Many thanks for that.

I cant see a Bapt for Charlotte on F/S or FreeREG but there is a EDMOND Mealing Marriage 23 Oct 1828 Hedsor on FreeREG.

There is a Bapt for him on F/S but no Parents named.
Image is also on Anc. no parents.

1851 we have;
William Mealing   65 Head Widr Upholsterer born Penn
Edmund Mealing 47 Son Mar Upholsterer born High Wycombe
Sarah Mealing   40 Daughter-in-law
Jane Mealing   20 Granddaughter
Ann Mealing   19 Granddaughter

1861 William has a Son ROBERT c 1815 and his Bapt is;
19 Sept 1814, Crenden Lane Meeting House Independent, High Wycombe to WILLIAM/ANN

Still cant find a 1st Marriage for Charlotte to a Mr WEBB ::)

William left a Will, probate 11 Dec 1863
He may have mentioned Charlotte.

Many thanks for all the information Trish. It is very kind of you to take so much trouble, however at the moment I am only interested in the son George.

He married and had children in Drayton, Norfolk, which is where my Howards are so I had assumed he was part of the family somewhere. I was therefore most surprised to find his birth place on the 1881 as Woburn sic, so that is why I was looking at the 1841. He is still at Wooburn in later census.

The parish relief and split family set me wondering which is why I posted originally, just curiosity.

I’ve only just started looking at George so as yet I know of no connection to my family. I feel there must be though as it’s a bit of a coincidence leaving Buckinghamshire and moving to a Norfolk village where there are a lot of Howard families.

Regards

Thanks for that Retriever.

I was bored so did some research on the Family.

Hopefully it will help someone else in the future :)

Might even be me!

To be honest it looks as though George simply moved to where the work was. He went from an ag lab to stoker at the paper mill, which is where his future wife’s father and brother worked.

The surname is a coincidence I think as his family seem well rooted in Buckinghamshire while mine were all Norfolk born and bred.
