The nearest that I can locate on old OS maps is Wood end

I think we were looking in the same area, heywood  :D

Wood End is at the other side of Greno Woods. I hope you could see the map I posted.
On yours Gadget, Greno Wood Head is off your map.

Good to see that the location has been pin-pointed BUT what about the baptism?

Slatter/Slater or Walker? Take your pick!
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Hi, yes I've seen register entry as opposed to just a transcription

Cheers, Paul

My bad, just checked and it was a BT from which I got the info, and having now revisited the Register its thrown doubt about the legitimacy of the transcription

Not sure why you are doubting the legitimacy of the transcription - both are on the same wavelength.  The problem is that the two parish register images show the surname as WALKER, whilst the BT and transcription show the surname as Slater/Slatter.  Which way to go  :-\ :-\

Perhaps I'm glad that it's not my family, and therefore my decision.
