Churchtown North Cemetery Midleton
« on: Monday 19 July 21 17:11 BST (UK) »
Hello

Iv been unable to locate a contact number for the Churchtown North Cemetery just outside of Midleton.
Would anyone have contact details they would be able to share with me?
I’m looking to confirm if a family member is buried at this cemetery.

Many thanks

If I have the correct location - a few miles east of the town of Midleton and adjacent to Churchtown village - The graveyard appears to be associated with an old Church of Ireland , a later church was  located across the road for a time. It appears to be a very old graveyard, probably closed for burials. I would think probably still in the care of the Church of Ireland, if not maybe be the county council has taken in to care.

The civil parish for this townland of Churchtown was Inchinabacky, the latest RCB Library Church of Ireland parish list has burials records starting 1843. Inchinabacky had previously been part of a parish union with Templenacarriga / Templenecarrigy - historic burial records back to 1715 existed for the parish but unfortunately most of these are now listed as lost (civil war), only records from 1883 onwards survive..

(note - non Church of Ireland burials in this graveyard may not be recorded)

From http://www.igp-web.com/IGPArchives/ire/cork/cemeteries/churchtown-north.txt

Churchtown (North) graveyard is picturesquely placed on a height about two miles east of Middleton, on the highway to Youghal. It is well named so far as the church is concerned, which is one of the best preserved of the old pre-Reformation churches in the county.........
