Have you checked the find a will website to see if she is listed on there?  If it says probate then she left a will and you should be able to obtain one.

https://probatesearch.service.gov.uk/#wills

If her surname was a common one use the advanced search which allows you to enter more details.

She did apparently leave a will, but it doesn’t appear on the probate search website. I suspect the estate was tiny. Solicitors refuse to give details.

Are you willing to provide her name or would you rather not?  Or if you prefer you could send me a pm with her name and I will double check for you.

Hmm not showing up which I find odd if she left a will despite the estate being tiny.

What was her date of death?

In the mean time I'll check the Evening Post online and see if she pops up on there.

I am not sure if this is relevant, but you mention that there was already a headstone. Was that for her husband? If that is the case, it is another oddness that the funeral service was held somewhere else.

Exact date was 1st October 2016.

This all started when my mum said that she hadn’t heard from her sister in ages. They used to exchange cards and letters. Mum said “surely someone would have told me if she died.” But no one ever did. I searched for a death registration and found one.

Three years ago both myself and my cousin approached the solicitors who refused to tell us anything, other than “you weren’t informed because you weren’t beneficiaries.” My cousin is trying again, but still getting nowhere.

I am trying to find the person who officiated at my aunts funeral in 2016. A search with Google has resulted in a letter that was published in the Church Times in 2011.

Are there any online lists of current clergy, or organisations I could contact? In the published letter he says he was baptised Catholic, and goes on to describe himself as Anglo-Catholic, so I am somewhat confused.

There is an Anglo-Catholic tradition, maybe he was a member of such a church?

Possible churches in Bristol:
Church of all Saints, Clifton
Cotham Parish Church
St Paul's Church, Clifton
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

I have learned something today - I had no idea that this was a thing.

Do you know where she is supposed to be buried?  Although there a quite a number of churches in Bristol not all of them would have room for a burial.

Where did she die, at home or in an hospital?
