« on: Friday 06 August 21 04:40 BST (UK) »
Hello

I am trying to trace information and descendants for John Robert MacMillan (McMillan) who was the son of Ebenezer MacMillan and Helen Thomson. He was born in Glasgow Scotland on March 5, 1857. He married Janet (I have no surname) about 1886 or 1887. They had 3 children Annie, Maggie and Ebenezer.

Did daughter Maggie die young? She shows in 1891 aged 1, but not in the family's 1901 entry. There is daughter Helen, aged 9, in their 1901 entry.

The only way you will find out which one is correct is by using a few credits and downloading them from scotlandspeople. gov.uk.

Do you have the birth certificates for any of the children? Normally the parents date of marriage is noted at the bottom of the entry.

Found the birth of Ebenezer (easiest name to try as it is quite unusual) on scotlandspeople -

Ebenezer Macmillan - born 1894 - St Rolex, Glasgow, Ref 644/6 1260

This would also give you his mother's maiden name so easier to narrow down John and Janet's marriage in 1886/7.

Hope this helps,

My information is correct its from their marriage registration.  If you download Ebenezer's 1894 birth it states his parents but also when his parents married.  From there I pulled the marriage from SP.
