Thanks Lu. That's very interesting - James Whelan & Edmund Fitzgibbon (brother of Honorah who married James Whelan), both also having the reference to Minmindie. That makes it even more important that I view those Electoral Rolls to see if they elaborate on the Mindindie connection.
regards
John

When I search FamilySearch without inserting any Names or Dates, but just inserting "Minmindie" in "Life Events, in Any Place", with Exactly ticked, I get pages of hits for lots of different people but all under NZ Electoral Rolls. Which now makes me wonder if some sort of inputting error has been made in FamilySearch's database. Perhaps it was meant to apply in one instance and was somehow entered to apply to a whole group.

I reported the issue to the FamilySearch Community and got the following reply:
"Thank you for reporting the error in the New Zealand Electoral Rolls, 1865-1957 in which 89,855 of the entries show an inaccurate place of Minmindie, Victoria, Australia (not the whole collection, by the way). We have reported this error to our engineers. They are currently working with quite a few instances where an auto-standardization project has caused problems like this, so it is likely to be quite some time before they get it corrected. We apologize for the error."
