*Completed* Help with a word in a will please
« on: Monday 09 August 21 19:50 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone!
Can anyone help with deciphering the highlighted word in William Cafferata's will please?
The section of the will talks about the shares to be given to surviving spouses of childless children, and appears twice. Logic tells me it should be half and it looks a bit like the French word for half "moitié" but I'd appreciate any thoughts you may have.
This is the best and only copy I have of the will I'm afraid, it came from the probate service as a pdf.
Thanks in advance.

The word in question is moiety, I.e. a half, as you suspected.

I agree with Jen. 'moiety'.
You see it a lot in wills.

This scribe's 'e's are formed so they look almost like 'c's, but you can compare the 'e' in the middle of moiety to many other 'e's on the page.
