Meaning of abbreviation on pension record
« on: Tuesday 10 August 21 10:47 BST (UK) »
Hi (and sorry for posting again here)

Does anybody know what "2DRM" means on a marine's pension records in the last ship served on column? I'm assuming 2nd Division Royal Marines - if so, what can I actually tell from this info?

Thanks for any help

What date? If it was Victorian there were only a handful of divisions (each split into many Companys) and they were usually known by their depot names i.e.

 Chatham Division or CH Div
 Portsmouth Division or PO Div
 Plymouth Division or PLY Div

Various years in the 1820s I believe. Perhaps indeed the numbers referred to Portsmouth or Chatham etc. Mine was from Portsmouth. Thanks for help. Wonder if I can find anything to do with their companies

Does his pension record give

a) any other ships served on
b) enlistment date
c) discharge date
