1841 Lookup for Gray
« on: Wednesday 31 August 05 04:00 BST (UK) »
I would appreciate someone checking in Wiltshire for Jonathan (b. 1798, Keynsham, Somerset) and Sarah (b. 1799, Buckland Dinham, Somerset) Gray. Could not find them in either 1841 or 1851 Somerset census. Thank you.

Hi Jim

I can't find Jonathan or Sarah in Wiltshire, Bristol or Gloucestershire in 1851. At the moment, as far as I know, no-one has indexed the 1841 for Wiltshire so looking through it without a place to start is a no-hoper   :(

If you get any leads as to possible place names, I'll happily check them for you. Until then, I think we need to wait until 1841 is better indexed.

Do you have a marriage for these 2, or anything else to go on?

Regards

Angela

Especially looking for - Sealey, Rogers, Cannings, Box, Sheppard in Wiltshire; Virgin, Slade, Abbott, Saint, Harper, Silverthorn in Somerset; and Virgin, Tarr, Beer in Devon

And most especially the origins of William Cannings,  a Baptist, born abt 1791 in Broughton Gifford, Wiltshire

Dear Angela,

Thank you for checking. I'm only guessing that they moved to a neighboring county since they aren't in Somerset. They may even be deceased by 1841 or emigrated to another country. Sorry, I don't have any more to go on.

Jim
