I note that Louis Joseph Philippart was shown as a minor & Marie Ghislaine Charlier as an adult. What sort of age would Belgium class a minor/adult on a marriage certificate.

@ibbotson:

With all due respect, you might stand a better chance of receiving answers if you say a little "thank you" to those who go to the trouble of working things out for you.

Especially as Zefiro is new to RC.

Best regards,
Karen

But not in this case, with respect.

Zefiro went to the trouble of answering your question and your response was simply another question. No please or thank you in sight...

@Karen: I'm sure ibbotson appreciates what's been done for her/him. A thank you would have been nice, but maybe I will get a double one with following answer. ;)
Regarding your question (What sort of age would Belgium class a minor/adult on a marriage certificate?), I'm not an expert in that matter. I did find useful information to help you find answers. It seems that, although there was a general rule, exceptions occurred. For the period concerned (last decade 19th century), people were minor when under 23 year. This changed from 1901 on, when it was lowered to 21. To get married, men had to be at least 18, women 15. But, they still needed permission from parents until they reached the age of 30 years.
In your case, this would mean that the groom, being minor, was younger than 23, and the bride, being adult, was older. Their birth certificates will tell if I'm wright, but at least now you have the general outlines.
