Can you help please Thomas Hughes & Susannah Cockbill
« on: Wednesday 31 August 05 12:44 BST (UK) »
Hi
Can any one out there help to trace my husbands family.
I have been searching for months and getting nowhere.

Thomas Joseph Hughes shown on the 1901 census as born in Oldbury abt 1884. He was living at No 16 Titford Road when he married Susannah Cockbill from No 79. I have been fortunate with Susannah family but not Thomas.
I cannot find him on the 1891 census & cannot locate a birth record for him.
His father is listed as Thomas Crumpton not Hughes on the marriage certificate but I can find o record of a Thomas Crumpton born 1884 and the witnesses are all from Susannah's family.

I do know they had at least three children Ethel (?) George (1915) and Leonard (1924) all now deceased. & lived in St John's road after they married.

If any one knows anything about Thomas and his parents or brothers & sisters I would be most grateful to hear from you.

Thanks
Carol

Hi,

I see Thomas Joseph is down as plain Joseph in 1901.

In 1891, there is a Joseph T Crumpton

RG12/2265
Folio 90 p. 5
Oldbury, Worcestershire

Please let me know if you don't have access.

Tanja  :)

Though I see he's down as son of Noah, grandson of Thomas...

Hi
Thanks for the reply.. I have found this link before  and also  a Joseph Thomas Crumpton Born 1884.

However I am fairly sure My Thomas is the one shown on RG13 / 2730 Folio 76 Page 25 working as a carter at Ramrod Farm Throne Road not too far away from Titford Road.
He is shown as a Carter  the same as on his marriage certificate

Thanks for the help though
Carol

I would not say useless.

It nice to see others willing to help even if  they end up in the same place as me

How about this from Westmidlands BMD:

West Midlands Birth indexes for the years: 1884
Surname Forename(s) Sub-District Registers At Reference
HUGHES Thomas J Harborne Sandwell HAR/65/165

Any use?

Tanja

Sorry again. Checked at FreeBMD and he seems to be the one born Kings Norton 1884 with a death registered in 1888  :(
