Edith's death certificate may be helpful re place of birth:-

From 1969 a death certificate also includes the date and place of birth of the deceased, and the maiden name of a married woman.

It would mean forking out £11 for it though as it is after 1957.

I think that if i go for any cert (and I'm trying to avoid doing so for the moment), I'd get the marriage cert, as at least I'd see if Edith was a spinster or widow, and the name of her father.

I've just found two burials for Edith Emily Male nee Sealey in ST Peter Port, Guernsey.
One was the mother of Albert James Male; the other, was married to Augustus Francis Male and was the mother of Henry CHarles Male.

I can't see the DOD for either of these. Obviously they are not "my" Emily Edith, but the surname coincidence is too marked to be ignorable.

How can this fit together?

I'm rereading this. Albert James Male was buried in 1913, age 5 months;  Harry Charles was buried age 1 month in 1908. I think that his parents are named on the stone but maybe not buried there.

Hm. Did Augustus Male die? Maybe this is indeed my Edith Emily Male nee Sealey?

Yes, from your point of view the marriage certificate would be of more use.  It's unfortunate that it doesn't appear to be online anywhere.  Not that I've looked to see if it is.

Have you discounted this birth?

Edith Male
3rd Qrt 1892
West Bromwich, Staffordshire, England

3rd Qrt is likely too late for a 13 April birth (assuming that is correct?).

Thanks, Monica, I hadn't seen that. I'll check it out.

The 1911 Channel Island census turns out to be on FamilySearch and FindMyPast and I've found Augustus and Edith Male. But Edith says she's 22 so yob 1889. This ties in with the age on the 1901 census of the person linked to other online trees.

Where did Albert and Harry die?

Since the memorial is in Guernsey and I've just found the family in Guernsey in 1911, I'm guessing that's where they died.
