Just as an aside question, are there sites with information on ship migration from Denmark to Australia?

I think they would have travelled from Hamburg. There are passenger lists on Ancestry.
You could try here but it depends if they travelled assisted or unassisted:

Thank's Ian, your help has been greatly appreciated. I too had suspected that Theodor and Jens had sailed from Hamburg, as it was one of the main shipping ports to other countries. I will have a good search through it today. My great, great grandfather on my grandma's side was a stowaway on a ship from Germany, and it took a lot of work to find out which ship he sailed on via letters etc. I can only hope Theodor and Jens were legitimate passengers. Incidentally the posts from Cheran had been sent to me by my father a couple of year's ago and was invaluable. Theodor had been listed as 43 years old at death, so it was assumed he was born in 1836, where in actual fact he was born in 1832 and was 46 when he died. It was that information that got me started on this big adventure, with a long way to go..... Best regards Christian ;D

« Reply #21 on: Monday 13 September 21 01:40 BST (UK) »
Hi, I am needing some help finding birth records and the parents names of my great, great, great Grandmother. Her name was Maren Jorgine Louise (Lovise?) Thrane. She was born in 1798? and died 5th May 1838 aged 40 in Garnisons Kobenhavn. I found her death certificate but haven't had any luck with her birth record and parents names. She married Adolph Andreas Holm 17th July 1824. Any help to find this missing branch in my family tree would be greatly appreciated. Regard's Christian. ???

Thanks Ian, I am guessing that Ane Margaretha was Johan Jorgen Thrane's wife? Do you happen to know what his occuption was? All these census's have the most beautiful writing, but some of it is hard work deciphering. It's interesting how their names are in English and the occupations are in Danish, and my Danish is definitely not the greatest. Regard's Christian. :)

Yes she was his wife. He was a ship's captain in the merchant navy - "koffardikaptajn".

This is their marriage:

They were married in the German Church in Copenhagen so the record is in German (which I cannot translate unfortunately). I think her surname is Altenburg.

Thank's for that great piece of information Ian. A ships captain in the family!! certainly a different job to my other ancestors so far. As for Anna's surname it looks like you're right either that or it's Allenburg or Dallenburg. Thankfully my German is a bit better than my Danish, so I could make out some of it. I will have to name my family tree Yggdrasil. ;D Regards Christian.
