Just to keep you in the frame, have ordered the marriage of Thomas Cavanah to Elizabeth Green. Hoping it shows the 2 fathers name, and occupations. Will post the outcome.

Well, having received the marriage certificate it confirms one thing--thomas's occ Carter as per 1871/81/91/01 &1911 census.

Full details

Thomas Cavanagh aged 23 bach, occ-Carter abode 30 Simpson Street, father LUKE Cavanagh-dock labourer, Thomas signed with x

Elizabeth Edwards aged 22 spinster abode 24 Blundell Street-Father John Edwards occ Pitch Boiler

Elizabeth signed with an x

Witnesses James Bains & Mary Ann Murphy

I have spent this afternoon looking for a Luke Cavanagh that fits the bill--absolutely nothing, any eyes welcome. I must confess I thought his father was going to be a Francis Cavanagh, so glad I did not follow that line to much.

heywood, you are putting me to shame with this post of mine. Looks as though you are on the correct path. Thomas was aged 2 on this census born Liverpool, his elder sister born c1844 Ireland so it looks like they came to Liverpool between 1844-1849.

Thanks for your help.
